Stepping Stones

At 10am we wandered round the corner to catch the little steam train to Boot. It’s a tiny little train and was very warm, even with the door open! Once we got to Boot we were supposed to start walking the Eskdale Trail home but took a big detour to look at the Dalegarth Force waterfall. It was a gorgeous walk (especially in this warm weather) which took us through valleys, woodland and beside the river Esk. After lunch at George IV pub at Forge Bridge, Alf and Liv decided to get the train back leaving D, Pops and I to continue our trek. We eventually got back at 5pm with very sore feet. A lot of the walk was up a steep slope through woodland. After a quick rest, we got ready and came into the village for dinner at The Inn at Ravenglass. We have a lovely view of the sun setting behind the sea from our table. It’s been a lovely day.
