Autumn. May the Fourth
There are still plenty of leaves to come down.
The highlight of the day was my friend Kate’s mother called around with Kate’s toddler Oscar. Kate is due to have another baby any day and Maureen was doing some baby minding for her. Oscar didn’t like the look of me (with 2 big scary sticks light light sabres) so screamed. He loved Bob and cuddled up to him immediately. drat
Bob is out raking leaves and I’m trying to get enthusiastic about moving around. I feel like a beached whale getting in and out of bed. I wasn’t exhausted after my shower and the wound didn’t leak so I’ll call that progress.
Election Results: IMHO
Positive….Right wing conservative coalition was soundly defeated including the leader losing his seat. Their policies were scant and peddling back on climate action. Grrr
Left leaning Labour has a very healthy majority (I would prefer a minority government so the sensible centre could have more input)
Our candidate didn’t win but another Independent came through and beat the very right wing National candidate. They rang me to ask me to vote for them but I don’t agree with any of their policies which includes Nuclear. I have nothing against nuclear power but we don’t have enough water, it’s currently not allowed in Australia and is very expensive. We have plenty of wind and solar and hydro and need to stop coal and gas as soon as possible.
So I’m pretty happy on the whole.
