In the pink.
A bank holiday today here in the UK so of course the weather has been iffy. Cloud, a bit of sun, a bit of drizzle and above all cold!
Despite it being a holiday we have had our Monday morning singing session as usual. We didn't do our usual shop as we go away on Wednesday but we did pop into Bingley for a few things and had a coffee. It was very busy. There were flags in the park, dogs wearing rosettes and a singing group on the bandstand. Not sure exactly what the event was but good to see.
The Clematis have flowered over the weekend so I took some photos of them when we got back. The pink Clematis Montana was cut back drastically a few years ago as it was bringing down the supporting trellis which needed replacing. We were concerned it wouldn’t survive but it did come back pretty well, just in case we planted some others only one of which has thrived. It is called Broughton Bride and can be seen below right. Quite different from the Montana. It has a number of these large white/pink long petalled flowers. It seems to be doing ok but hasn’t grown very big. A bit different and I rather like it.
Today is the start of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday. Missed most of it on the TV this morning so I’m watching it on catch up whilst doing some ironing.
Hope you’re all having a good day.
