The Rings Of Evie (post-Neolithic)

Not a newly discovered ancient treasure!
We pitched last night by the beach of Evie, another beautiful spot looking over the sea. Today we walked along the beach and I noticed some wires along the edge from the track. I thought it might be someones rubbish, but I was surprised to see a few hundred metres of coils of wire interwoven together like chain mail.  I can only assume it is an attempt to safeguard the banking  from erosion.

My extra is from St Magnus's Cathdral in Stromness.  I could have shown one of the many gravestones decorating the walls with the skull carvings, or perhaps the lovely red sandstone columns. I decided to go with the tiling by the choir stalls in the oldest part of the cathedral. The tiles are certainly not 13th Century, but their colours matched the stonework very well.
