A “birding” bike ride
Wednesday
We actually had a dry day today, with a fair bit of sunshine, and very warm temperatures! So Garret, our painter, was able to put a good day in. I had a hair appointment at noon, a longer one than usual, as I was getting my highlights done. I was a bit nervous, since this was the first time with my new hairdresser, but it turned out well.
When I got back I had a late lunch, then R and I got out for a bike ride, on the Little Miami trail as usual, but starting from Avoca trailhead, and cycling down to Lunken airport and back. There was still evidence of recent flooding, with the river still running fast and muddy, with trees in the water at the river banks, some woodland areas flooded, and fields still partially flooded, as in the lower left photo. These flooded areas were attracting birds, such as the Solitary Sandpiper (top left) and the Killdeer. Once we reached Lunken airport, we spent a while watching the mechanical “birds” land and take off, with Roger studying his flight app. to see where they were coming from or going to!
