A time for everything

Something shiny

Much of my day has been spent indoors, so in the absence of an outdoor blip, I went with the Abstract Thursday theme of something shiny, and in case you hadn’t guessed, I chose my cheese grater! This morning I was out at Bible study, where we continued with our reading of Adam Hamilton’s book “Seeing gray in a world of black and white”,:which brought about some good discussion and sharing. Afterwards, I had arranged to have lunch with Gayle, one of the ladies in the group. She’s from Kentucky, but moved up here with her husband some years ago, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Unfortunately she lost her husband not too long afterwards, and now feels torn between her daughter’s family, and her sisters in Kentucky. Of course, Kentucky is much closer than England is for us, but we share a lot of the same feelings. We also share similar political views, so we found plenty to talk about.
When I got back, Roger told me the surprising news about the American Robert Provost being elected Pope Leo XIV. Having read and watched more about him, and all the years he served as a missionary in Peru, it seems as if he could be a worthy choice. R and I had a coffee together, and had a phone chat with our daughter Jen, who was telling us about her recent kayaking weekends. Then, shortly before 6pm, it was time to head back to church for handbell practice and choir practice.
