Thursday: Wildlife Food Forest
Cold wind and sunshine, as we’ve had for last few weeks.
Today’s Blip:
On the left - Mahonia japonica “Charity”, the berries have started ripening and one of the female blackbirds is claiming them as hers and I was even allowed to take a photo, she was only inches away :-)
The group of 4 to the right:
Double flowered Hawthorn, which has dark pink flowers and is growing over our wall from next door, there will be berries in a few months time which the birds will eat.
Guelder Rose white flowers then red berries (viburnum opulus)
Tiny fruit forming on the recently repotted dwarf eating apple “Sunset Red” - lots of bees and other insects enjoyed the flowers, I’m hoping that the fruit will be left alone for us to eat!
First of my assorted Weigela shrubs to flower, the bees have already started visiting and I love hear their buzzing deep in the flowers :-)
Early afternoon the washing had dried (in the howling gale!) - I’d put all the clothes on the clothes maid when I noticed something moving, it was a Shield Bug - the first one I’ve seen this year! I caught it in a tissue and took it outside, then took some quick photos - https://gardensafari.net/english/shieldbugs.htm - think it might be a Green Shield Bug, SEE EXTRAS
Loads of love and hugs to all my family / Cariad Mawr
