Pentre Llanhaeadr
FRIDAY
A terrible night’s sleep—Fitbit logged just 4 hours and 24 minutes!
I drove eight miles over to the Ford dealership in Pentre Llanhaeadr to get the “engine malfunction” checked out. It turns out, there’s a hairline crack in a plastic pipe that's causing an imbalance with the airflow sensor readings. Apparently, it’s safe to drive whilst the new part is on order.
Quick stop at home, then back on the road—18 miles this time to Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay for a 10:00 am bowls match.
The green at Eirias is a tricky one, giving the home players a big advantage. With the weather continuing to be dry and warm, the surface was tinder-dry. On the worn patches, the bowls just rolled on forever.
I had my toughest game in quite a while. I was up 10–1 early on, but my opponent clawed it back to 13–12. I managed to get back in control of the jack and pulled away to win 21–13.
Each side had five winners, but we just edged it on aggregate (174-170), picking up the extra 2 points.
Back home, I spent some time in the garden and had a wander around the village.
I took this photo while waiting for my car to be checked at 8:15 am. The hills in the distance are the Clwydian Range. Home is in the distance on the far left.
