Blencathra
After recent hiking achievements we thought we would have another go at Blencathra. Checking back on Strava I see I ran to the summit 23 times via various routes before heart problems intervened. It was always a go to summit when we were living up in Carlisle and it was our regular on Christmas morning.
I've had 2 failed attempts in the last year, not having been able to keep HR in a safe range and having to back off.
Friday we set out early (05:30) to beat the heat and make sure we could get parked at Scales which was the chosen route up.
Blencathra is a massif, a number of fells linking up to reach the saddleback summit, hiking up is not difficult technically (unless you choose Sharp Edge) but it's misleading, the massive size gives the impression that it is not a steep climb but it's relentless, 2000+ feet over 2miles.
Suffice to say after plenty of resting along the way I felt ok and we made it to the summit marker in 1hr 17mins.
I couldn't find a favourite view for the blip so made a montage of the views in various directions from the summit..
Onwards and Upwards!
