Santiago de Compostela
We made it!
We walked into the cathedral square in Santiago de Compostela about 1.30pm, after a 13 km( rain-free )walk from Teo. We found our hotel, and left our belongings there, before heading back to the cathedral square to claim our Compostelas ( certificates) confirming we had walked more than 100km on the Camino. We walked around the city and bumped into a number of people we had come across during our pilgrimage. It's been such a friendly experience.
This evening we had a delicious supper of cockles, razor clams, prawns, and scallops ( mussels were "off"). See extra
Then we watched the start of the annual Santiago 10km race through the old city centre. ( I know, it was so good of them to hold it on the evening when we were in town!) . 31 minutes later the winner arrived in the cathedral square, with the first woman arriving 10 minutes later. See second extra.
My blip is of the cathedral, with the almost full moon, where the race finished.
It's been a memorable day.
(We raised a toast to my dear Mother, Doris, for giving her blessing for us to go on this holiday as planned. She and my Father would have enjoyed such a trip.)
