Pea netting adventures
Two allotment sessions today - the morning one for community service as it was a workparty day and the shop was also open. I had mowing duties around the pond and other community area while a large gang worked on the communal compost heap, reinforcing the sides and expanding it(see extra). Hard work in the sun but they were rewarded with cake from Sara as it was her birthday. :-)
I finally found the jute pea netting that I bought at Chelsea last year (carefully stored on a shelf in the garage) and popped up after dinner to put the netting over the bamboo frames. The netting is meant to be 2 x 5 metres, so I wasn't surprised when there was some extra length on the first one, but it went up OK and I tied up the extra length.
The second netting looks more like 3 x 3 or maybe 3 x 4 metres. I eventually gave up and have brought it home to try to untangle. I'm also going to take down the successful netting as that was on the shorter bamboo frame and will need to be used on the taller frame. So that will be the job for tomorrow evening. Hoping I have enough time to plant out the pea plants as well.
