Schools Out

Up early this morning for the Kirkby Kendal School car boot sale. Always a popular one so I left home at 6.30, even though it’s only a 5 minute drive away. And I still had to join the end of a very long queue waiting to get on site. Worked out okay though as I ended up with a very good pitch with lots of footfall. When I say “up early this morning” I was only referring to myself as I left Mrs C sleeping peacefully. She did walk down to join me later on so I could have a break.
Not a bad morning - the weather was delightful - and we shifted another couple of boxes of stuff. Not much profit to speak of (I blame Mrs C’s very “generous” pricing policy!) but the pitch fee and all refreshments were covered and we still had a few quid left over.
This afternoon was spent listening to the radio whilst I did the ironing. Tonight we’re off to Lancaster to see the comedian Ignacio Lopez at The Grand. We could need to allow plenty of time to get there as the traffic reports on the radio have been warning of congestion on the M6 around Lancaster all afternoon. Hopefully it will have eased by the time we set off but, just in case we have to take to the back roads, setting off twenty minutes earlier would seem prudent…
