A cycle ride to the Jump Ship tap room

When we heard that the Jump Ship Brewing was hosting its first alcohol-free tap room of 2025 today, Mr hazelh and I decided that we would cycle over there for a drink and lunch. The offer of a free beer to the first ten cyclists to arrive hastened our travels. We were also curious to see the site because it is here that Paddy works.

The ride there was quite tough because it was mainly uphill, and I developed back ache quite soon into the journey. However, after two bottles of alcohol-free cider and a delicious wood-fired pizza, the return trip was much more enjoyable. The only mishap of the visit was that my pizza box was blown across our table in a gust of wind while we were still eating and sent one of my (empty) cider bottles flying to the ground. Paddy may hear about 'the cyclist who smashed a bottle' when he goes into work tomorrow...

Also today I have finished writing my slides for a wee private presentation on Lorna Lloyd on Wednesday evening, and Mr hazelh and I made a dash to the garden centre at Craigleith to buy a few plants to brighten up the yarden and the flower bed outside our spare bedroom.

Exercise today: 33.5 mile bike ride.
