The Royal Scotsman at Waverley

The Royal Scotsman was on Platform 1 at Waverley this morning. When I saw it, the (very wealthy) passengers of the past three days had just disembarked from the train, by way of a red carpet, to the music of a live jazz band. I blipped the train staff at the back of the train waving off their guests.

I passed through the station twice today. The first time was on the way to campus and the second on the way back - just 5 minutes afterwards, when I heard that the meeting that I was due to attend was cancelled at short notice. I took advantage of a now-free morning to buy some snazzy new silver trainers at John Lewis.

This afternoon I went to the gym, but not to exercise. I wanted to test the equipment for the presentation that I will be delivering there on Wednesday evening. I am glad that I did this today because nothing worked! I will return tomorrow, by which time the manager should have sourced a cable to connect his laptop to the projector.

Bella is staying with us overnight ahead of a train journey to London tomorrow. This evening we played Catan (Bella won), reminded ourselves of Carcassonne, enjoyed some fizz and Lochinver pies for supper, and watched the final of University Challenge

All day we have been thinking of a dear friend who had an emergency admission to hospital this morning.

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; walking (18,196 steps).
