VE Day Exhibition
No Tittle Tattle or book club yesterday as the electricity supplier was coming to fit a new meter which I didn't particularly want, but mine was around 40 years old and they are legally required to replace them. I sent a photo of the meter and was told the electrician would not be able to access it as it might entail "standing on a small ladder"! Eventually someone with some common sense rang me and we booked a date, my son removed the boxing in and the cupboard doors and it was all done within an hour. I suspect he climbed onto the granite work surface as there was no evidence of a ladder! It meant I had a very tidy kitchen for once. So this morning I was supposed to be putting things back in the cupboard etc but decided I should use this as an opportunity to get rid of things rarely used. Bored by lunchtime so Corinthian and I went to the village Memorial Hall to look at a VE Day exhibition about the village during WWI and WWII. For a small village they lost a lot of young men - some were brothers - very sad. Interesting to see their addresses many of which I had never heard of in the village! Photo is of one of the boards showing the village as it was then and how it is now. Well worth seeing, but very poignant. Rest of afternoon spent watching the Challenge Cup Semi-Final. Well done to Hull for beating Catalan Dragons - close call at one point! :-)
