A day in the life

Intense

My plan for today, if I had one, would be to enjoy yesterdays work and maybe to hoover my flat, it's been a while since other things has been in focus. It began well, by reading the paper in bed before getting up to a slow breakfast. I filled the washing machine and got ready for leasure.

We've had a gorgeous day, low wind and a very agreeable temperature outside, maybe I should bring the last half of the Geraniums outside? I did so. When geraniums has been indoors over winter, they tend to develop long, naked stalks with no leaves and new sprouts in peculiar places so when I got them out it was clear they had to be pruned quite brutally  and most of them also needed a replanting. It took me into the afternoon before I was done and now the indoors was a mess. I ended up cleaning all the windowsills hoovering all  the geranium leaves and old dustballs off the floors, washing the hallway carpets so they can be stowed away until autumn and washing the floors where they had been.

By six thirty I was exhausted and ready for a walk in the beautiful sun. I was caught by the intense colours that suddenly exploded over the weekend when I was working with the choir. During the walk I finally got into the peace I was planning for in the morning and felt quite content after all. Hope the plants will make it, it's still rather cold in the night.
