Thacka Reserve

Having had our month's free coffees at the garden centres we had a change of venue for this week's Wednesday outing. Oh, and a change of day - this week Monday is the Wednesday!

Thacka CWT Nature reserve is on the outskirts of Penrith in the middle of an industrial estate. A naturally damp place on the course of a beck has been taken over and modified, to relieve the flooding of Penrith town centre. In the time before blipping I had 4'6" of water in the cellar of my shop. It came up in minutes while Kat, who had been working down there came up for a cuppa!

I think this is a sedge warbler. I was wondering if this was a sedge warbler so I had also posted it on our Cumbria Birding FB page and The Man's cousin's ex, a bird expert, has just confirmed that it is. He was the man that changed my mind about wine and converted me to red at a family funeral. Such a long time ago......

On another topic: this is Mental Health Awareness Week (Aren't we aware of the importance of it every week?). At my Talking Therapies session last week, my therapist gave me a chart to fill in this week to indicate my daily mood, 1 - 10, and to write down what made the day good or bad.

Well, today was a 10 day! Good work done in the garden this morning and a nice walk with The Man and The B-I-L around the reserve this afternoon followed by cake and coffee at Cranston's. The evening was so warm we ate outside on a table and chairs we have just been given.
