Catch!
In to Holmfirth mid-morning with MrM. The folk festival was in full swing, and we soon went our separate ways - he to a music session (Irish, of course) and me to get my fix of Morris dancing. There were lots of sides dancing at several sites around the town - the wonderful Boggarts Breakfast (in the Blip) are a Border Morris side from Sheffield. Also listened to Banda na Rua, the sister (and more advanced) Samba band to Valley Beats, my Wednesday drumming group. Very good they were too.
Next on the agenda was walking to a pub to see MrM's band, Al's Django Party. Also met up with my long-time friend Liz and her friend, and several drummers who had come along. Left before the end of their performance to watch the procession of Morris dancers through the town and up a steep hill to the park, where there is a dance display by all the sides. Liz and I sat on the steep bank of grass to watch it, an enjoyable way to spend a hot, sunny afternoon.
Our thoughts turned to food, and as there were long queues at the food outlets we bought supplies at a local supermarket and walked home to eat. Then back in to Holmfirth to meet up with MrM to go to the Saturday evening concert - Helian followed by Urban Folk Quartet, both fantastic bands.
Footsore and rather weary, Liz and I were both thankful for a lift home in the van with MrM!
