Centro Botin
This is the view from our hotel window, of Santander's Centro Botin, designed by Renzo Piano, and completed in 2017. One part is an auditorium and the other part is an art gallery which holds temporary exhibitions. We visited the current exhibition of the art of Maruja Mallo, a contemporary of the likes of Salvador Dali, Garcia Lorca and Rosa Chacel. We found her perspective on women's lives very refreshing, and the huge, light, gallery an excellent space to display her work. See extra of Song of the Wheat Spikes.
We then walked up the outside stairs to appreciate better the clever design of the building, which is cantilevered over the bay.see extra. The roof is clad with opalescent tiles that reflect the shimmering water.
