Look Out

Brockholes

A stop off at Brockholes, the Lancashire Wildlife Trust reserve (and HQ) by the Ribble near Preston. Water levels seemed very low, but that’s an impression exacerbated by extensive barren patches where volunteers have been working hard to remove invasive vegetation. My hour was mainly spent in the “infocus” hide overlooking the artificial sand martin “bank”. The were lots of martins, great to watch (extra).

After a pleasant hour I travelled on to see and have lunch with friends in Longridge. From there I then headed northwards to the caravan, my first stay since January. My first task - to deal with the dead fly apocalypse.
