Roses
It's full on first flush for roses in Scotland; here's one with a delicate scent, scrambling over a wall in a lane in the New Town, between Broughton Market and Barony Street.
Out to the store now called Broughton Market for comestibles first thing; cold east wind and overcast. Sun in the afternoon. We went to check on the Inverleith swans; one cygnet swimming with the two adults, no sign of any more. There was a heron in the reeds very close by, feeding.
Watched some enthusiastic dogs running on the field, then walked back by the Rocheid path. Stopped at the bridge; found tiny fish in the river, a pair of circling herons, a pair of goosander in full spring colours making their way up river and a pair of mallards.
