FLOWER FRIDAY - ON THEME AGAIN!!
This is getting to be a habit!
Whilst chatting to Mr. HCB before he went off to cricket this morning, he said that the yellow Flag Iris was out in full flower, if I wanted to photograph it for today’s Flower Friday Challenge, so off I went out into the garden to get my fifth consecutive “on theme” shot.
However, the flower had fallen over and as I touched it to try and revive it, it just came off in my hand! It was the only one, the rest being just buds at the moment, so I had to give up that and find something else and also confess to Mr. HCB what I had done!
Last year, Mr. HCB grew some Aquilegia “Kenna Giant Mixed”, beautiful flowers in mixed colours, which have long spurs, and in fact, I prefer the shots taken so that these can be seen. If you look closely, you can also see a little spider hiding amongst the petals. Aquilegias are also known as Columbine and Granny’s Bonnets, and I remember my own grandmother having lots of these in her garden.
You may be interested to know that the term used for five goals in football is “glut”, so I now have a glut of shots that have been “on theme” and I am wondering if I can make a “double hat-trick”?
I was going to stay in and do some housework but that thought didn’t stay in my head for too long, so I have decided to go over to The Orbital, which is a retail park on the other side of the town, so will go on the bus and might even treat myself to lunch in M & S - and hope that the cyber incident hasn’t affected the instore café!
Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend. M xx
