Abstract Thursday - ‘Shapely Abstract’

The morning’s service was the Christine and Jane show - Christine presided as priest and I did the readings and assisted at the communion. Having cleared down the sanctuary etc afterwards, I got the Memorial Book out of its locked glass case in the church and took it to the office. There I met up with a lovely gentleman called Barry who is able to write in beautiful italics, and he kindly inscribed five names which I gave him onto the appropriate pages of the book, together with their dates of birth and death and the dedications from their families. He doesn’t take any payment for it as, like me, he feels it is an honour to do this for the deceased. We turn the pages of the book in its display case as the days and weeks go by, so that families can come and look at their loved ones’ names on the anniversary, and we also include them in our prayers for that week.

I just about got to the Exchange in time for my latte and toasted tea cake, then went home for an afternoon of bits and pieces.

Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursday, with this week’s theme of a ‘Shapely Abstract’. I’ve turned a little lidded pot which my niece made for me recently into an abstract filled with polygon shapes. The original is in Extras, which I think looks rather 1930’s in style and colour.
