Not for the faint hearted.
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
I have always wanted to see this magnificent structure and walk across it. Well today I managed it. Not great if you haven’t a head for heights!
Designed by Thomas Telford and constructed in 1795 - 1805.
It takes the Llangollen canal over the River Dee.
1007 ft long 126ft above the river. Water depth 5ft 3””.
19 cast iron spans. 4 piers in the water.
A fabulous World Heritage Site.
Before this our first stop was Cors Dyfi Nalure Reserve to see the Ospreys.
Run by Montgomeryshire Wild Life Trust.
Our first time we have seen these magnificent birds.
They have a wonderful hide where you can watch them on the nest, and also several cameras so you can watch live pictures back in the centre.
Not good photos with my little Lumix, but better views through the telescope.
So my second extra is a photo taken of the screen.
What a fabulous day we have had. Hot sunny weather and cloudless sky, and two great places to visit.
Now staying in the small town of Ruabon.
Home tomorrow.
Thank you all for the hearts and stars for yesterday’s blip. Sorry getting behind, but next week will be back to normal!
