Lookalikes

TR No 3 Sir Haydn arrived at Abergynolwyn with the first train of the day.   This loco has had a repaint, the blue lined red livery depicts that of the Skarloey Railway in the Rev'd Awdry's Railway Series books.   In the books the engine 'Sir Handel' looks identical as the Skarloey stories are all based on the Talyllyn Railway here, where Awdry worked as a volunteer in the 1950's.

Today's assistant guard was assured by two passengers today that she looks just like Emma Thompson, here she is looking out at the back of the train.   This link to the Blipmeet picture we should have taken yesterday, shows you how uncanny the likeness is :-)

A steady but not busy day at the cafe today, long because of an afternoon Driver Experience train driven by a lady celebrating her 80th birthday who turned out to be the sister of someone I worked with here as a teenager many years ago.   The late finish pushed the evening meal I was cooking for railway friends rather later into the evening but the food was still tasty!
