T. Tiger Makes a New Friend

I was in the Scotia Barrens, on my way up to the third pond to check out the lady's slipper orchids. I had my pals the Moose, Tiny Tiger, and the Anteater in my daysack. Suddenly, a small orange figure appeared on the trail: a red eft, the terrestrial form of the eastern newt, Notophthalmus viridescens. Tiny Tiger wanted down so he could meet and greet the red eft. This is the scene that unfolded: T. Tiger makes a new friend!

P.S. On my way back from the Barrens, I spotted a female monarch butterfly laying eggs on milkweed!
