Rain, no rain, gardening, soreness
The next few days, which naturally coincide with the long weekend, have described as “very stormy”. Thank God we are not further north, which has been hit with a blizzard, or further south (in fairness, much further south), where tornadoes have been wreaking havoc. We have rain. And wind. It turned out that today was the “good” day, so Mrs. Ottawacker and I stepped out into the garden inter imbres to rake the lawn and cast down the new seed. Honestly, I think it is a waste of time as our back garden is almost the biblical definition of stony ground, but there is something so sad and pathetic about the sandy soil. The garden has never been the same since we planted the pine trees at the back; they have sucked out the remaining nutrients from already very poor soil. Oh well.
Having worked myself into a frenzy of raking, I started to feel a little sore and stiff (the beauties of arthritis), so what better to do than take Ottawacker Jr. to his soccer practice? Indeed. Fortunately, the rain held off again – so I could watch his team canter to a 3-0 victory in an intermural game against the D2 squad. Quite what he got out of the session is open to debate: he had zero saves to make, and part from a few back passes, hardly touched the ball.
In the evening, we all watched Conclave, which was a good film, I suppose, if you like that sort of thing.
