Far better than the last heap of rubbish I read, R.F. Kuang's Babel, or the Necessity of Violence is an absolute masterpiece! I'm now into the last one hundred pages and the excitement, drama, intrigue, magic and emotional power of the writing hasn't wained one iota throughout the previous four hundred pages. I'm now interested in reading her Poppy War trilogy. I seem to have found another must-read author.
