Day out in Edinburgh

We had a lovely barbecue yesterday, the sun shone and we enjoyed some glasses of Pimm’s with snacks on the deck before moving indoors to eat.

After dinner we chatted before I watched the Eurovision results. Disappointing for the UK but I can’t speak for the songs played as we were too busy chatting!

Sunday morning dawned a little earlier than I would have liked but we were up by 9 to take Phin to daycare for an overnight stay. He was very excited to go in. I’ve heard from the daughter of the old daycare lady and she’s planning to take over the business but on a smaller scale so I’ve agreed to put Phin back to her. It’s cheaper and we only really need one day a week not the two the new place requires. I’ll tell them this week, was it too cheeky of me not to mention it when I put him in today?

After a tasty cooked breakfast we headed into Stockbridge for a mooch around. Sunny with a chilly wind so I was glad if my jacket. A very tasty artisan market, followed by a pint in a beer garden and we headed over to the Botanic gardens for an hour or two. Dinner at a favourite Lebanese restaurant where we enjoyed a set meal which was full of garlic. Delicious at the time but probably not too sociable for our final event if the day, a concert at the Usher hall.

We saw Spell songs, a group of musicians who perform individually and together as this group and are accompanied by an artist who paints as they play. From wiki - The Spell Songs ensemble is a group of folk musicians originally formed to complement the 2017 book The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris.

My main blip is the raven Jackie painted for their finale and the link is from their encore where the group played and she painted 3 oak leaves.
