Green Canyon
Beautiful sunshine all day, calm and warm.
Up early, breakfast early and caught a tour bus. After picking up the other passengers, we headed to the Green Canyon for a boat trip. We had lunch down by the Green Lake and a spot of free time. Next stop was at the Green Canyon dam, it was massive, standing over 700m. A brief look at a Roman viaduct, a shopping spree, then a orange farm. Back at the hotel this evening.
The boat trip up the canyon was definitely worth it. It took a few hours, steamed through the high cliffs at each side. The deepest parts were over 800m, at the source was 7m. The canyon was formed by the building of the dam, I didn't catch what year it was built. Not something I'd like to live under, but it makes for a water supply and power. After the cruise, there was a chance to swim, but it was too cold for me. The water has that striking green colour, due to copper and aluminium in the rocks. A close up snap of the canyon waters, along with the flooded trees. Taken at Green Canyon, Oymapinar, Turkey.
