Rain comes and goes with
wet surfaces everywhere -
in the rainforest!

We drove to the Renfrew Pub for a meal. I managed to catch the only handicapped space there. After our meal we walked to the end of the pier to have a better look at the San Juan Inlet.
The weather continued gloomy with small outbursts of short-lived sunshine. I find it fascinating to see where the ocean meets the land. At many points there is a 'shelf' that juts out into the water. One can appreciate how shipwrecks happen. The 'shelf' cannot be seen until it's too late to change course.
Along the west side of the pier a number of high-end vacation stays have been built. They are private to the pier with their west sides glassed and viewing the ocean.
We took note of blooms along the rocky hillside by the pier. Shallon or salal looks like bleeding hearts. It is a evergreen shrub native to this area and was used as a food source by indigenous people. Korean Mountain Cherry reminds me of apple blossoms. It is not a native species. I suspect it has escaped from someone's garden.
A harbour seal popped its head out of the waves, but he was far too fast for me.
That was all the walking for one day that these feet will allow. I found a 4 inch banana slug beside my parking space. My Mother had these in her garden.
