The Baltic
Another warm and sunny day. We spent the morning at the Stendörrens Nature Reserve located on the coast. We arrived early before many others and had our walk to ourselves. We followed a trail around a small island that took us over several small suspension bridges, across smooth rocks and through pine woods with views across a glistening sea. What an amazing place.
We lunched in a restaurant at one of the region’s large estates where I had my first taste of roasted wild boar. Our journey home was a little longer than expected as road resurfacing meant we detoured via small dirt track roads until we joined the main road back to our holiday home.
That completed and with a cup of tea consumed, we had another dangle of our legs off the jetty into the very cold lake water (it felt a little less bracing than yesterday). After dinner we rounded off the day with a short walk along the track above the house which gave us views across the lake as the light gently faded.
Wildlife seen or heard today include a common sandpiper, snipe, red cross bill and a smooth snake. I also saw the black throated divers flying down the lake and heard their haunting call from across the water.
