Brick chick
While riding home from Mum and Dad's this morning I diverted to the shops for milk, and happened across this broken but rather neatly stacked brick. It hasn't travelled too far: it's G.S. Loudon Hermand, which means the Hermand Brick Works, just to the east of West Calder. The works closed in about 1915 but there is still a bing there, in the trees. I didn't take it home for my brick collection basically because I didn't have room in my panniers.
This afternoon was mostly spent in the sunshine, fiddling with the Africa Twin. I was all set to ride to the petrol station to fill up, but my fancy trip odometer said 6 miles, so job done already! In case Fidra doesn't make it through her MOT, I attended to the AT's chain, giving it a clean and regreasing, using a rinky-dink micro jack that lifts the rear axle and thus the wheel, since the bike doesn't have a centre stand. Considering I bought the cheapest possible version of the jack it did the job alright. I also tried to organise tools and things to take on Holz, which took ages.
And this evening was spent sorting out clothes wrangling my text-based fuel log into spreadsheet form to try loading into my phone. I will do clothes tomorrow, either side of MOT duties.
