A swan drama
Good to be back to the ( later) early walk after being away, a good catch up and chance to meet this years swan family.
The youngsters must find the walking a struggle, every few minutes they flopped down, quite comic. There are only three seen here but there are five, herby lies the story.
Mum is distractedly (sorry she is headless) looking the other way, dad was in front of these three between me and them.
She was making a lot of noise as the other two cygnets were stuck behind a fence - see extra.
D my friend and neighbour and I were feeding birds on the pond and waiting for these to join them. When we realised the issue she got over the fence but didn’t want to get too near and stress them all, dad had already had a go at someone passing with a dog on the lead. She tried to lift the bottom of the fence with a long stick but it wouldn’t move enough so she gently pushed them to the right and back under the tree where there was no fence. Success. Well done D.* We left them to continue to waddle and flop on the lane.
Later Chris took me in my car down into Bradford. I normally get the bus but he wanted to treat my car to a car wash as it was so dusty. I was collecting a book from Waterstones. I sent Chris up to the cafe to get a coffee and a table whilst I sorted out my order. As I’d bought the Children’s Book of the Month I got a free coffee voucher. Too late he’d already got them. I’ll have to go back before the end of the month - no hardship there.
The subs arrived now I may go back to the gardening
* see blip 8 years ago of the rescue of a sheep on it’s back whilst lambing here . D is very good at rescues!
Just realised I missed the Iris around the pond must make another visit
