Crewe???
I think this diesel driver might be a little bit lost if he thinks he's heading for Crewe! I walked with G this afternoon on Kelling Heath, both having a delicious Ronaldo's gooseberry ice cream tub at the Holiday Village. Not much wildlife around, or people, but the shop was gearing up for lots of visitors over the bank holiday weekend. This morning I also walked into town. Two of the blue tit chicks are much bigger than the others, and they've been practising wing flapping and beak tapping on the box, so not long now until fledging. The nest box is looking very full!
We finally had some rain overnight (0.4mm), which I think is the first in nearly six weeks. Unfortunately for me, it was also the night that, for the first time ever, I'd absentmindedly left my camera and long lens out on a garden chair. I'd tried to get a blue tit photo, then got distracted by seeing that the nearby bird feeder needed topping up, and then I did the other feeder too. I dried it off and watched a YouTube video on how best to dry it out - then took the actions they suggested. I'll leave it for at least 24 hours to see what damage has been done.
