Lyme Regis

We spent a day in this lovely seaside town on the Jurassic coast. There were a couple of “must dos” on my wish list. Firstly I wanted to walk out to the end of The Cobb, the harbour wall which was originally built as a breakwater to protect the boats and houses of the town. (first extra) It also featured in the 1981 film “The French Lieutenant’s Woman.  Secondly, I wanted to hunt for fossils and fortunately, dogs were allowed on the beach where some wonderful ammonite fossils have been found.  I was delighted to find some traces of these sea creatures which went extinct about 66 million years ago, give or take a year or two. (second extra) Bertie’s nose is included for scale. Ammonites are also represented very artistically in the streetlights of the town. (third extra)
It was such an interesting and enjoyable day.
