My topsy-turvy life

By Rathmandu

There are places I remember...

Louisa was working this morning so Owen and me decided to go out to Carding Mill Valley for a walk up to the reservoir. We left fairly early..ish but it was still really busy when we got there so we parked at the bottom of the car park and walked along the stream up towards the café and the start of the trail. We made it a couple of hundred metres before Mario here decided he was hungry and wanted to stop for our picnic.
Once he'd got some extra energy inside him we strolled up to and around the reservoir, throwing some stones in at the far end to make splashes, chatting away in the sun. Then it was back down the valley by a different route, which included a steep bit with ropes to hold on to, followed by the obligatory stop for ice cream at the café before heading home.

My original hope today was to get a ticket for Goodison's last men's first team match, but I wasn't one of the lucky ones to get a ticket to celebrate the Grand Old Lady. Instead I had to make do with snippets and highlights of the incredible celebrations*. Even that made me feel emotional so who knows how is have been off it's been up there?! The difficulty in getting tickets over the last 6 home games means that my last game there was Owen's first, which has a certain symmetry to it.
Onwards and hopefully upwards now to Bramley Moore...or should I say Hill Dickinson Stadium.

*The drone shot's not mine and I wish I could credit it but it's everywhere and dies mark the occasion.
