Rest Day
It’s been a wet, cold day so we decided to have a relaxed day staying in the local area.
After breakfast we took a walk along the rough tracks around the house and along the side of the lake. We discovered beautiful green pastures filled with buttercups.
Feeling in need of warming up (it was only 5 degrees), we went out for lunch at a farm restaurant where we enjoyed some local venison and an interesting chat with a member of staff who explained the work of the estate to us and some of the exhibits in the building including an early form of clay pigeon shooting which involved firing glass balls into the air (see extra).
This evening we’ve had another walk and have been watching a large owl hunting in the fields around the house, and a hare hopping around the garden!
