Ragged Robin

Today we spent most of our time in a small corner of Winchester. First, we were assisting at Winchester GoLD's Sporty Fun Day, held at the rugby club's grounds and house. The LD Members of GoLD, were split into four groups, and rotated through four different activities: football skills, rugby skills, practising boxing moves, and Tai Chi & mindfulness. Martin and I accompanied and assisted one group of seven people.  The newly installed Mayor came along near the end and presented certificates to the participants. Everyone seemed to have had a good time.  We were exhausted after running around retrieving footballs, and in Martin's case, joining in with the sparring in the boxing session!
Then we popped up the road to see my Mum, Doris.  I took a call from the Palliative Care doctor while we were there. She feels the medications and care are all in  balance and keeping Doris comfortable. I agree.
Finally we went half way back to the rugby club to join a group from City of Winchester Trust, on a visit to the local Winnall Moors nature reserve. We were guided by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable warden around the part of the reserve not normally accessible to the public.  It is mostly an old  water meadows site, with several carriers ( small artificial streams)flowing through it. It's important for wildfowl and other birds passing through although a few nest there, too. It's also managed as  a series of wildflower meadows.  Currently, there is a lot of Ragged Robin in bloom, so that is today's Blip.
