The beginnings of dinner
I have been waking at 5am these last few days.
Ailie called and brought cake and we had a coffee. I showed her the painted bits of paper and we tried them out in the bathroom. She thinks Pavilion Grey is the best match for the floor tiles and would be better than white on the walls and door.
I decided I’d rest the knee more today so only accomplished a mile getting to and from the car park to the hairdresser for a scalping. Mr C went to get the F&B paint but they didn’t have it in Morpeth so we hope to find it in B&Q when we go to town tomorrow to spend a few hours with #3 daughter and children before we head off on our Wild Frontiers trip on Tuesday. (Apparently a police escort is laid on for the whole trip. There are only 6 in the group which is too small I feel, but hopefully they will be congenial).
It seemed a good idea to use up what had languished in the fridge since we went to Whitley Bay on Sunday. I used onions, wizened mushrooms, a bit of old broccoli, not as green as it had been, plus a tin of butter beans. On top I sliced old cooked potatoes and made a cheese sauce. I thought it might be a bit bland so added a good dollop of mustard and a generous glug of Worcestershire sauce to it. Here’s the bit before the potatoes and sauce. I hope it is tasty.
Friend Jo just messaged. For those of you who think we do adventurous holidays - She booked a trip to Yemen.
