Farewell
Today we bid a fond farewell to Sweden. The day greeted us with sunshine and blue skies which transformed the landscape around us into a world of colour. It made a beautiful end to our holiday but made leaving all the harder.
As our flight home wasn’t until evening, Rickard, the owner of the house we’d been staying in, kindly said to stay on as long as we wished. So after we’d cleaned and tidied, we spent the morning walking along the lake and soaking up our peaceful surroundings including the sounds of the loons calling across the water.
We took a slightly longer route back to Arlanda Airport to avoid the busy motorway around Stockholm. It enabled us to see a little more of the country as we passed through many scattered rural communities, through rolling landscapes and crossing bridges over lakes and lagoons. I’m most grateful to Andy who was driving.
Our flight home back to Heathrow was surprisingly busy but the journey was smooth and timely. We arrived home at around 1130pm, did a quick bit of unpacking, had a drink and went to bed after a long day.
My blip shows one of the views from the house of Lake Båven. Try as I might, the view of our garden just isn’t quite the same!
