Edinburgh Half Marathon
I was up and out very early for me on a Sunday morning. The Edinburgh Half Marathon was starting near the Dower House at 8am and I was meeting a Stromness Selkie to cheer on her husband who was running. The streets were closed and there were thousands of runners gathering in Bristo Square but we managed to find each other and more importantly we manage to pick out Davie as he sprinted past . We yelled and he stopped. I managed to grab a photo as he did the same.
Heather then came back to the house for a coffee before getting the infamous #26 bus to the race finish at Musselburgh and I took myself off for the birthday brunch of a Merry Widow in Söderberg. By that time there were more runners streaming past for the 10am start of the full Marathon.
There was a very windy westerly blowing today , so I imagine the runners would get blown down the coast to the turning point and then have to fight against it getting back to the finish at Musselburgh.
After lunch I was picked up by son#1 who has bought a flat on the other side of the Meadows for his twins to have whilst at the University. They will share it with 2 friends who will pay rent to offset the mortgage. I thought it was such a lovely airy south facing flat that I could have lived in it myself had it not been up a flight of stairs.
I walked back home and just missed one of the heavy showers of rain which swept across the Meadows at intervals all afternoon.
