Ivy on the Square Day
I had to touch these orchids to find out if they were the real McCoy. They were, and formed part of the flower display in the entrance to the Ivy Restaurant.
It was Monday and the monthly meet up with my school friend. It has become such a regular custom that the staff know us and although the older Greek Waiter who brings our coffee and toast without us saying a word was nowhere to be seen, the waitress on duty was very accommodating. The restaurant was busy and we wondered why until we remembered it was another Bank Holiday weekend.
There was such a nip in the air as I walked down to Princes Street that I looked at the weather app on my phone to find that although the temperature was 10°, the wind was so strong, it felt like 2°- quite a change from last week, and somewhat alters what I put in that holiday case. How I wish I were back in former years where you could load the car with everything but the kitchen sink…….. mmm, well not the year when the car all but expired on Orkney and we had to coach it on to the ferry and decant bikes and luggage on to a rescue truck as our sick car was towed away to its untimely demise.
