Down to the Sea

I must admit I had a wee bit of a struggle convincing myself to get out from under the duvet this morning and go down to the sea early enough to swim  and then be dressed to catch the 7:05 #45 bus all the way home.
The sun was shining from the off which made it easier and the beach looked lovely, empty and  bathed in sunshine. I was dipping solo but there were 4 other early birds on my heels as I waded in. My sunbeam was there to swim along but it took me out to sea so it was abandoned in favour of shallower waters. It was a calm sea and clear and the sky was blue with fluffy white clouds…… had the forecasters got it wrong? No, by the time I got home there was an ominous grey sky to the west and by 9:30 the rain arrived.

I suppose it rained for about an hour , just long enough to do a washing and convince me that a raincoat had better accompany me north at the weekend. Once  the rain stopped, I lugged a parcel of ‘stuff’ I had no way of getting into my case up to the post office to send it to Orkney by snail mail.
It cost less to use Royal Mail than to pay for surplus baggage on Loganair.
