Camargue guardians
Today I did manage a few phone images alongside those in the camera. Street photography in crowded settings isn't my strong point, and it's taken me a while to get myself organised.
Here's part of the escort for today's procession, in which the 'two Maries' made their journey from church to sea and back.
The French term 'gardians' is often translated as cowboys. That's a fair enough reference to the work they do, but to me it doesn't capture their grace and dignity at all. Or their role in maintaining regional traditions. So I prefer a literal translation.
