Looking North Late On

It was my annual invite to Archerfield golf course today and I enjoyed a pleasant drive along the back roads on the way there. It doesn’t lie directly on the sea but near enough for the wind to make things tricky, as if the course itself wasn’t hard enough. Our fourball didn’t exactly set the place on fire but we weren’t last and only three points behind the winners, plus one of us (not me obviously) won the nearest -the-hole competition: six inches! It’s a long course, we hit a lot of shots and searched in the gorse a fair few times. Throw in a compulsory stop at the half-way hut to rehydrate and that took us about 4 & a half hours to get round. I was puggled!
A bit of a late lunch, an hour’s drive home and I was just in time to head straight back out to the bowling club, happily not to play but just to register the team for next season. I’m a glutton for punishment.
