Rodents and roses
held my attention in the
park this grey morning
~carliewired
I headed out the door and down the road at 6:30 before I'd decided where to go. When I got to the light at the bottom of the hill, the traffic was light so I continued to the bridge and over to Riverside Park.
There's a blustery wind and some suggestion of a thunderstorm in the offing. The wind had knocked pine cones out of the trees throughout the park. It had also cleared off the Celtic Stones that the marmots inhabit. They leave their 'calling cards' all over it.
I walked half way up to the bridge on the Rivers Trail to get a shot of my mountains and the railway bridge. The river is high with debris floating by. There is one large sandy beach on the north shore, but the shoreline is full.
I caught the marmots in various poses in and around the Celtic Stones. There are so many baby marmots sprawling about the grass and scampering about. The colony continues to grow.
I made my last stop the rose garden. I had completely overlooked it last time I was here. It's great to see some colour. The roses are just beginning to make a show.
I picked up my breakfast, then turned for home. There was a deer hit on the route to the bridge. The city workers were taking care of the remains as I drove past.
I'm home and will keep my cranky feet up today.
