Welcome Home
We had a relatively free day and the weather cooperated completely. I was so anxious to get outside that I skipped breakfast until close to lunch time. The heating and air guy came to do our semi-annual inspection very early. Hubby helped me move the deer fencing around the tiger lilies that grow in the garden near our heat pumps. As usual, my ADD sent me from one task to another before the previous one was complete. I pulled weeds, put the flower pots back where they belong, trimmed dead debris from roses, herbs, etc, cleaned the feeders and fed the birds, covered the blueberries with bird proof netting, etc. The ground is quite wet after all the rain. I am sure there are more mushrooms if I’d looked. This large lace-border moth was getting a drink off the grass. Hubby helped me with the berry covers. We should get quite a harvest. Sure hope the kids and my sister will pick them while we are in TN. Hubby had to pick up storm/wind debris on the lawn and then he mowed. I wouldn’t hazard to guess how many of the thousands of maple seeds from my neighbor’s trees have germinated in my gardens. I worked for hours and haven’t made a dent in getting rid of them. Very frustrating. Hubby helped me put up fencing to control the perennials that grow in the front garden. They infringe on the sidewalk if not fenced. We saw a baby praying mantis in the grass but didn’t photograph it. The deer had a feast while we were gone. The volunteer tomato plants growing outside the fenced raised bed garden were chewed badly. A new Rose of Sharon bush my sister gave me no longer has buds. I covered it with dear fencing and hope it will put out new buds. They’ve stripped some of the plants in the formal garden. Thankfully, we have enough deer resistant plants that the property looks ok. I almost forgot to pick up Brooklyn. As it was, I got to school 15 minutes late. She understood. Hubby and I both got over 8,000 steps today. My poor foot is throbbing. Simply cannot wait to get the diagnosis tomorrow. I got a notice that the fruit spice I ordered for Kristen’s party on Saturday has arrived. Hmmm, it didn’t arrive here. I made a meatloaf and baked potatoes. Hubby will heat the beets and peas. But we are finished with any strenuous activity tonight. Hope your day was as productive. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. I hope to look at more journals tonight but may fall asleep while trying.
“Look deep into the nature in a cool morning. There must be a dewdrop in every grass tips, Among the green grasses there must be a coloured mushroom. On the top of smooth pebbles there must be a creeping snail and under the green leaves there must be a short horned grasshopper...
Even in every silence of nature there must be a beauty..” - Asha
