Middleton Hall

The rain has worked wonders in so many of our gardens and the walled garden is at its peak. The wisteria and laburnum are no longer holding centre stage and the rich beds of geraniums and poppies are just fabulous.

It was quiet.

I had a lovely stroll by the lake and saw the pair of swans introducing their three cygnets to the environment. (Extra)

But it’s not all perfect. Six cygnets were born at the beginning of the week and sadly, only three are still around.
Daniel, the head gardener, was relieved to hear that I’d seen the three…and that both swans were taking their turn.
