The veg garden
It's a bit more of a fruit garden than veg, I don't grow brassicas as they never do well in this patch. Maybe it's the clay soil but, over the years, I've added the contents of grow bags, plus home produced compost, to it.
Anyway, the bushes you can see are Blackcurrant in the foreground and beyond the canes are Blueberry's.
I've recently added the grow bags, on the right, with 8 tomato plants and a further 12 in between the bushes. Yesterday I planted French Bean plants, hence the canes.
In that bare looking bit in the foreground, to the left, I dug it over yesterday, watered it to break down the heavy soil, and today I mashed it all up to make it finer and planted Spring Onion and Rocket seeds.
It's not a large area for produce but it's very satisfying to have fresh stuff from the garden for a while during the summer and Autumn.
There is another area behind all of this, looks like a black hole in the background. Used to have a plastic greenhouse thingy there until last years storms wrecked it. Since then it has become quite overgrown, above the area, with Elaeagnus and the dreaded brambles! I need to do some serious cutting back to allow some light in. There's also a large Buddleia off to the left which I don't want to cut away too much as the butterflies and bees love it.
